Does the model suit your lighting task?
WiZ Smart LED E27 Colour and Tunable White, 1521 lm according to the manufacturer stands in this selection for E27 luminaires with app and voice control, no wall dimmer and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. That is a narrower and more honest statement than a blanket “good” or “bad”. A lamp can be technically decent and still disappoint in the wrong place. That is why this analysis starts with the intended use, not with a score.
A light bulb does not decide where the light falls, only how much of it there is and in what colour. The direction is set by the existing lamp, and the beam angle limits how wide an area below is lit. It is therefore worth looking at the lamp itself before buying: a narrow spot in a ceiling track turns more lumens into a brighter patch, not a brighter surface.
For this model there are 5 readable product features from the Amazon listing. They are not presented as independently confirmed measured values. We explicitly separate what the source states from our practical assessment. We do not claim any long-term, laboratory or room trials of our own. We reproduce the quoted listing texts unchanged in content, but apply the house style for punctuation: dashes become a colon or comma, ranges are written out with “to”, and special characters and advertising symbols are removed. Numbers, units and statements are left untouched.

Listing statement: Standard size, More brightness, With its…
What the source states: Standard size, More brightness, With its standard A19 shape and the E27 cap, this lamp suits most luminaires at home, but it is powerful enough to light your rooms with up to 1521 lm
Why it matters: The amount of light can only be assessed together with beam angle, distance and the area lit. A high figure alone does not yet say whether the light arrives in the right place.
Listing statement: Rich colours, With millions of colours to choose from…
What the source says: Rich colours, With millions of colours to choose from, you will easily find the right light for every mood in the WiZ app; save your preferred settings as presets so you can reactivate them later
Why this matters: The system information should be matched against your existing smart home. Basic functions and manufacturer-specific effects are not automatically equally available on every platform. There is no manufacturer document for this. Documented are only the range of 2200 to 6500 kelvin and the classification as a colour-tunable light source.
Listing statement: Wide dimming range, Light up your surroundings as you…
What the source says: Wide dimming range, Light up your surroundings as you like with a dimmable smart light bulb whose brightness you can dim from 100% down to 1%, very suitable for relaxing in the evening
Why this matters: With this product, dimming is done via the app, hub or wireless switch, not via a wall dimmer. A dimmer upstream in the circuit should be bypassed or replaced, otherwise the light flickers or the radio connection drops. The dimming range down to one per cent appears only in the listing. EPREL lists dimmability merely as SPECIFIC, without a percentage value.
Listing statement: Easy to operate, Control your light with your…
What the source states: Easy to operate, Control your light with your preferred home assistant using a selection of WiZ accessories or with your voice, compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit
Why it matters: Check how many ways of operating it there really are and whether each of them stays reachable at the planned spot. It is also important whether the device saves the last level chosen and whether an accidental touch changes a setting.
Listing statement: Matter compatible, Matter is a unifying…
What the source states: Matter compatible, Matter is a unifying protocol that improves the simplicity, compatibility, reliability and security of many different smart home products
Why this matters: The system information should be matched against your existing smart home. Basic functions and manufacturer-specific effects are not automatically equally available on every platform. A Matter certification for a WiZ A60 is registered (Matter 1.2). That it applies to exactly the colour model is not shown by the entry.
Use in daily life
Light bulb, lamp and control form a system. A matching lamp holder alone is not enough. Light output, colour temperature, dimmability and an existing dimmer must also fit together.
For this model, the purchase decision should therefore hinge on a concrete situation. Before buying, write a sentence such as: “I need light for …” and add place, time of day and activity. If the model does not clearly fulfil this task, an alternative from the same category is probably the better choice.
A light bulb is neither hard-wired nor charged, so bathroom zones and electrical installation drop out as purchase hurdles. What matters instead is whether cap, shape and installation depth fit the existing lamp. With dimmable models, the dimmer already fitted comes into play: it must support the type and reach its minimum load, otherwise the light flickers or cannot be dimmed all the way down.
Strengths and limits of the assessment
What speaks for the model
- Product image, ASIN and listing data are clearly linked to one another.
- The design can be assigned to a specific lighting task: for E27 luminaires with app and voice control, no wall dimmer and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
- The available features allow a targeted check before buying, without inventing a star rating.
What remains open
- No long-term use of our own, no light measurement and no documented load check.
- Listing details can be abbreviated or change with variants and model updates.
- Room effect, glare and ease of use depend on your location and daily routine.
The most common wrong purchase is confusion with the white variant, which has the same luminous flux but no colour and only 2700 kelvin at the warm end. The second stumbling block is the wall switch: if it is switched off, the lamp can no longer be reached by the app. In addition, all radio functions run over your Wi-Fi.
What you should measure and check before buying
Before buying, check whether your luminaire accommodates the height of 142 millimetres according to EPREL, and whether the router offers a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Read the model identifier 8720169075818 or the EAN on the packaging to be sure you have the colour model and not the white variant.
- Define the task: Write down which surface or zone is to be lit and at what time of day you use it.
- Measure the space: Check cap, bulb length and diameter against the space in the existing lamp. Floor space, cable route and socket do not apply to this design. Product photos are no substitute for dimensions.
- Compare the light data: Check light output, colour temperature, dimming and, if needed, IP rating in the current listing text. There is no manufacturer document to consult for this item.
- Think through the controls: The switch, app, sensor or remote control must be reachable and understandable in daily use at the planned location.
- Check the variant: Colour, size, set contents and lamp holder can differ within a listing. Compare the variant you choose with this analysis.
If you are unsure how much light your room needs at all, work it out once: the lumens-to-watts chart translates wattage figures into actual brightness, and how many lumens per room are needed depends on area and activity. Further models from this area are in the overview under home lighting, and the lighting calculator translates your room into a concrete target brightness.
Set-up, position and first check
Assign each lamp to exactly one task. Then check colour temperature, controls and possible glare in the evening. For permanently installed lamps, the installation instructions must match the existing connection; improvised solutions are not a good basis.
After set-up, do not judge the light only in daylight. In the evening, switch the rest of the lighting as you normally use it, and check the situation from seated, standing and walking height. Only then do disturbing reflections, hard shadows or an unfavourable switch position become visible.
Note the model number and order date and keep whatever paperwork is in the box. For this item there is neither a manual nor a manufacturer's page to download, and in the event of a complaint the retailer is the only point of contact. You need both when setting up the app again and in a warranty claim, because there is no data sheet to look things up in. The light bulb and holder remain replaceable, so a later change of brightness or colour temperature is possible. This device is intended for indoor use only, and it is not approved for damp rooms or outdoor use.
Comparison with similar models
The comparison does not name winners. It shows models of the same category so that you can see whether one of them is closer to your lighting task. If two models have the same task in the Assessment column, they do not differ in purpose but in design, dimensions and features. The column then states what is actually different according to the sources.

Our buying decision
WiZ Smart LED E27 Colour and Tunable White, 1521 lm according to the manufacturer makes sense if you are looking for a smart lamp for E27 luminaires with app and voice control, no wall dimmer and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, have checked the dimensions at the intended spot and actually use the functions named in the listing. The purchase is less convincing if you expect a universal solution for several conflicting lighting tasks.
Keep looking if key data such as dimensions, light output, IP rating or compatibility is not clearly documented for your intended use. The same applies if you only like the look of the design, but the cable, the floor space or the controls would get in your way in daily use.
We deliberately award no stars. A numerical score would suggest a measurement accuracy that does not exist without documented hands-on testing. The statement this page can support is narrower: which details are available, what the model may be suited for, and which questions remain open before you buy?
Frequently asked questions about the smart lamp
Does the lamp need a bridge?
According to the manufacturer's statement for the sister variant, no: it communicates over Wi-Fi in the 2.4 GHz band and via Bluetooth. For the colour model we have no document of its own, but the design belongs to the same product family.
Which energy efficiency class does the light bulb have?
Class E. EPREL lists 1521 lumens at 13 watts, which is 117.0 lumens per watt. With the factor 1.000 for non-directional, mains-operated light sources, that lies between 110 and 135 and therefore in class E.
How bright is the lamp really?
According to the manufacturer and EPREL it is 1521 lumens. We have not measured anything. According to the registration, the lamp corresponds to a 100 watt incandescent lamp.
Can I run it on a wall dimmer?
According to the manufacturer, dimming is done via the app, voice or accessories. A wall dimmer is not needed for this, and whether it interferes with the lamp is not shown by the documents. So leave the lamp and the wall switch on permanently.
Is the colour rendering good?
EPREL lists a colour rendering index of 90 for the colour model, and only 80 for the white variant. According to the registration that is a clear difference, but the value applies to the light source as a whole and not to every colour setting.
Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple Home?
The listing names all three, and a Matter certification is registered for the WiZ A60. Which platform you need and whether a Matter hub is additionally required depends on your household and cannot be established from the documents.

The sources are ranked by their closeness to the product: manufacturer documents come before retailer or comparison data. A shop listing is useful for the variant currently on offer, but it is not an independent check. Missing documents are not replaced with invented experiences.
