Assessed in overview: Pendant lights above dining tables and kitchen islands

Assessment in 30 seconds

In our selection we place this model as suitable for a dining table or kitchen island with enough ceiling height, with an open question on whether the suspension can be shortened and contradictory table values in the listing. That is our assessment based on the design, not a statement by the manufacturer. The available sources comprise 4 evaluated listing details, one verified product image and one checked manufacturer document with model data, plus 2 further verifiable references without model data. The purchase only makes sense once design, connection and controls suit your specific use.

Does the model suit your lighting task?

EGLO Boyal 99624, three-lamp LED pendant light, 110 cm overall height, dimmable according to… stands in this selection for a dining table or kitchen island with enough ceiling height, with an open question on whether the suspension can be shortened and contradictory table values in the listing. That is a narrower and more honest statement than a blanket “good” or “bad”. A lamp can be technically decent and still disappoint in the wrong place. That is why this analysis starts with the intended use, not with a score.

The decisive figure is the height of the lower edge above the table top. With a light height of 110 centimetres, a ceiling height of 250 centimetres and a table height of 75 centimetres, a calculated 65 centimetres remain. According to the manufacturer the total luminous flux is 5,850 lumens at 40.5 watts.

For this model, 4 readable product features are available from the Amazon listing. They are not presented as independently confirmed measured values. We separate explicitly between what the source states and our practical assessment. We do not claim any long-term, laboratory or room trial of our own. We reproduce the quoted listing texts unchanged in content, but apply the house punctuation: dashes become a colon or comma, ranges of values are written out with “to”, and special characters and promotional symbols are removed. Numbers, units and statements remain untouched.

How to read the table: Product name, image and listing features were matched to ASIN B097QFM3RC via the Amazon Creators API. Where a manufacturer document is available, it appears in the sources block. Marketing wording is not quietly reinterpreted as measurement results.
Manufacturer document checked in detail: For a pendant light over the dining table, what decides before buying is not the colour temperature but how it hangs from the ceiling and how long it is then. The EGLO data sheet gives the Boyal (item number 99624) an item height of 1,100 millimetres, a length of 1,010 and a width of 400 millimetres. The height is the overall height from the ceiling connection to the lower edge, not the height above the table. Whether the textile cables can be shortened or the suspension adjusted is stated neither in the data sheet nor in the listing. That is the most important open question: with a table top at around 75 centimetres and a ceiling height of 250 centimetres, at full length the lower edge would be 65 centimetres above the table (250 minus 110 minus 75 equals 65). In lower rooms it gets tight, and without documented shortening you have no remedy for that. On the brand and documents: EGLO provides a technical data sheet for this model (tools.eglo.com, item 99624, retrieved 21 October 2026). It is the only manufacturer document we could find. The product page on eglo.com under the obvious path returns HTTP 404, and a user or installation manual as a file could not be found through search. We checked the data sheet, the product page and a search for the instructions. That leaves exactly one manufacturer document, and it contains neither cable length nor installation notes. On the electrics, by contrast, the data sheet is rich: IP20 rating, Class II, mains voltage 220 to 240 volts at 50 and 60 hertz, without switch, dimmable, energy efficiency class E. On the light source: the data sheet lists two groups of light sources. Two LEDs of 12.5 watts and 1,800 lumens each, plus one LED of 15.5 watts and 2,250 lumens, all at 3000 kelvin, warm white. These are three lighting elements, matching the description of the three circular light surfaces. As maximum power including driver, the data sheet gives 45 watts. The sum of the three light sources is 12.5 plus 12.5 plus 15.5 equals 40.5 watts and the total luminous flux 1,800 plus 1,800 plus 2,250 equals 5,850 lumens. The difference from 45 watts, that is 4.5 watts, is the allowance for the driver. The LEDs are fixed: the data sheet speaks of LED and driver that can be replaced by a specialist. There is no light bulb to buy as a replacement in the sense of a cap and holder. On checking the numbers: per light source this gives 1,800 divided by 12.5 equals 144.0 and 2,250 divided by 15.5 equals 145.2 lumens per watt. The class limits of Regulation (EU) 2019/2015 are E from 110 and D from 135 lumens per watt, in each case after multiplication by the factor from Annex II, Table 2. We did not find the EPREL record for this light (search for model code 99624 and for BOYAL without a hit), so it is open which of the four factors applies. The calculation shows: with the factor 0.926 (non-bundled, without direct mains connection) the results are 133.3 and 134.4 and thus class E, which is the class the data sheet gives. With 1.000 (non-bundled, on the mains) they would be 144.0 and 145.2, so class D. With 1.089 (bundled, without direct mains connection) they would be 156.8 and 158.1, also D. Class E therefore fits only the classification as non-bundled and without direct mains connection, and the second element, at 134.4, lies only 0.6 lumens per watt below the D limit. That is our calculation, not a manufacturer statement. Then the details that do not fit together. The bullet text of the listing gives the three elements as 12.5, 12.5 and 15.5 watts and 1,800, 1,800 and 2,250 lumens, which matches the data sheet. The detail table of the same listing page, by contrast, gives 25 watts, up to 5,300 lumens, two light bulbs, an E27 cap and a rotary dimmer as the switch type. Two light bulbs and E27 contradict a light with three fixed LED elements, 25 watts contradicts the 40.5 watts, and 5,300 lumens is 550 below the sum of 5,850. The data sheet gives without switch as the switch type. The listing page belongs to a variant group with ceiling, table and floor lights of the same name, so individual table values may come from a sister model. That is not documented. Rely on the data sheet. On dimmability: the listing names dimmability with a suitable rotary dimmer on the wall. A dimmer is thus not described as part of the scope of delivery. The data sheet lists a long series of compatible wall dimmers, including JUNG, GIRA, BERKER, SIEMENS, SCHNEIDER, LEGRAND, THEBEN and ELTAKO. The section does not name a dimming type such as trailing-edge or leading-edge. Anyone who already has a dimmer in the wall should check whether its type is on the list. An unsuitable dimmer can make LEDs flicker or hum, which is a general property of LED dimming and not a statement about this model. On the connection: according to the documents the light has no plug, it hangs from the ceiling and is clamped to the ceiling outlet. Class II means that no protective earth conductor is connected. Even so, a fixed 230 volt connection without a plug is, in case of doubt, a job for a qualified electrician, and the weight of 2.77 kilograms calls for a ceiling outlet that can carry it, with a suitable hook or wall plug. The IP20 rating means no moisture, dry interiors only.

Listing detail: The LED pendant lamp is made of a flamed…

What the source says: The LED pendant lamp is made of a flamed pine wood beam in brown and three circular lighting elements made of black metal. With the white plastic LED covers and the black textile cables, the light blends seamlessly into the modern trend

Why this matters: This statement describes a product property, but does not yet answer whether it is practical for a dining table or kitchen island with enough ceiling height, with an open question on whether the suspension can be shortened and contradictory table values in the listing. What counts is the link to the planned location.

Listing detail: The hanging lamp can be dimmed with a suitable rotary dimmer on…

What the source says: The hanging lamp can be dimmed with a suitable rotary dimmer on the wall

Why this matters: Dimmable is only a usable statement once the means of operation and the steps are clarified. With fixed LEDs, the electronics in the light alone decide, and a wall dimmer upstream is neither necessary nor intended here. A rotary dimmer is named in the listing as suitable, but is not described as part of the scope of delivery. The data sheet only lists compatible wall dimmers from third-party brands and gives without switch as the switch type. Before buying, check whether your wall dimmer is on the list.

Listing detail: With its special design the LED hanging lamp offers a highlight…

What the source says: With its special design the LED hanging lamp offers a highlight in every room, whether in the living room or in the dining room above the dining table

Why this matters: For the assessment, what counts is whether this feature brings a concrete advantage in daily use. Without a suitable lighting task, it remains mainly a data sheet point.

Listing detail: The LEDs provide pleasant warm white light

What the source says: The LEDs provide pleasant warm white light (3000 kelvin, 2x 12.5 watts, 1,800 lumens each, 1x 15.5 watts, 2,250 lumens); dimensions: height: 110 cm, length: 101 cm, width: 40 cm

Why this matters: The amount of light can only be assessed together with beam angle, distance and illuminated area. A high figure alone does not say whether the light arrives in the right place. According to the data sheet the 110 centimetres is the item height, that is the overall length of the light including suspension. It says nothing about whether the light can be shortened. How high the lower edge sits above the table depends on your ceiling height.

Use in daily life

The light is hung from the ceiling, not stood up. It needs a ceiling outlet, its length of 101 centimetres should suit the length of the table, and the weight is 2.77 kilograms. According to the manufacturer it is dimmed through a wall dimmer from the list in the data sheet.

For this model, the purchase decision should therefore hinge on a concrete situation. Before buying, write a sentence such as: “I need light for …” and add place, time of day and activity. If the model does not clearly fulfil this task, an alternative from the same category is probably the better choice.

The light is a decorative pendant light for interiors with an IP20 rating, not built for bathrooms, outdoor use or damp rooms. It is not designed as task lighting for fine work.

Strengths and limits of the assessment

What speaks for the model

  • Product image, ASIN and listing data are clearly linked to one another.
  • The design can be matched to a specific lighting task: a dining table or kitchen island with enough ceiling height, with an open question on whether the suspension can be shortened and contradictory table values in the listing.
  • The available features allow a targeted check before buying, without inventing a star rating.

What remains open

  • No long-term use of our own, no light measurement and no documented load check.
  • Listing details can be abbreviated or change with variants and model updates.
  • Room effect, glare and ease of use depend on your location and daily routine.

The purchase usually fails on the drop height: if it cannot be shortened and the room is low, the light hangs too low. The second stumbling block is an incompatible dimmer causing flicker. The LEDs cannot be replaced by yourself, so a fault means a specialist firm or a replacement.

What you should measure and check before buying

Measure the ceiling height and table height and work out how far the lower edge sits above the table when the light hangs at 110 centimetres. Check whether your wall dimmer is on the dimmer list in the data sheet. Clarify whether the ceiling outlet carries 2.77 kilograms and whether there is room for 101 centimetres of length over the table.

  1. Clarify the task: Clarify whether you need a pendant light over the table or a flat ceiling light. These are two different classes of device.
  2. Measure the heights: Measure ceiling height and table height and work out the lower edge with a light height of 110 centimetres.
  3. Check the outlet: Check whether the ceiling outlet carries 2.77 kilograms and who carries out the fixed connection.
  4. Check the dimmer: Compare your wall dimmer with the list in the data sheet.
  5. Check the model code: Make sure the box shows item number 99624, not a variant of the family.

If you are unsure how much light your room needs at all, work it out once: the lumens-to-watts chart translates wattage figures into actual brightness, and how many lumens per room are needed depends on area and activity. Further models from this area are in the overview under home lighting, and the lighting calculator translates your room into a concrete target brightness.

Set-up, position and first check

For the connection, what counts is the fixed 230 volt connection without a plug, the load capacity of the outlet and the choice of dimmer. In case of doubt a qualified electrician does it.

After set-up, do not judge the light only in daylight. In the evening, switch the rest of the lighting as you normally use it, and check the situation from seated, standing and walking height. Only then do disturbing reflections, hard shadows or an unfavourable switch position become visible.

Keep the instructions and the model designation. That helps with spare parts, with a later query about the product and in a guarantee claim. Replacing the light source is not intended; at the end of its life the complete device is replaced. This device is intended for indoor use only and is not approved for damp rooms or outdoors.

Comparison with similar models

The comparison does not name winners. It shows models of the same category so that you can see whether one of them is closer to your lighting task. If two models have the same task in the Assessment column, they do not differ in purpose but in design, dimensions and features. The column then states what is actually different according to the sources.

Our buying decision

EGLO Boyal 99624, three-lamp LED pendant light, 110 cm overall height, dimmable according to… makes sense if you are looking for a pendant light for a dining table or kitchen island with enough ceiling height, with an open question on whether the suspension can be shortened and contradictory table values in the listing, have checked the dimensions at the intended spot and will actually use the functions named in the listing. The purchase is less convincing if you expect one universal solution for several conflicting lighting tasks.

Keep looking if key data such as dimensions, light output, IP rating or compatibility is not clearly documented for your intended use. The same applies if you only like the look of the design, but the cable, the installation location or the controls would get in your way in daily use.

We deliberately award no stars. A numerical score would suggest a measurement accuracy that does not exist without documented hands-on testing. The statement this page can support is narrower: which details are available, what the model may be suited for, and which questions remain open before you buy?

Frequently asked questions about the pendant light

How far does the EGLO Boyal hang down over the table?

According to the data sheet, the light has an item height of 1,100 millimetres. Whether the suspension can be shortened is not documented without the instructions, so expect the full length.

Is the Boyal dimmable, and with what?

According to the manufacturer it is dimmable. The data sheet lists compatible wall dimmers, and according to the listing a dimmer is not expressly part of the scope of delivery. Check whether your model is on the list.

Can I change the light source myself?

No, according to the data sheet the LED and driver are fixed and can only be replaced by a specialist. The E27 cap given in the listing table contradicts the data sheet.

How bright is the light overall?

According to the manufacturer the three LED elements together deliver 1,800 plus 1,800 plus 2,250 equals 5,850 lumens at 3000 kelvin. The listing table deviates from this with up to 5,300 lumens, and the data sheet values are the more reliable.

How much power does the Boyal use?

According to the manufacturer the light sources come to 12.5 plus 12.5 plus 15.5 equals 40.5 watts, a maximum of 45 watts including the driver. The 25 watts in the listing table does not fit this.

Do I need a qualified electrician for the connection?

The light is connected in a fixed way to the ceiling outlet. In case of doubt a qualified electrician does this, also because of the weight of 2.77 kilograms and the load capacity of the outlet.

Sources and currency

The sources are ranked by their closeness to the product: manufacturer documents come before retailer or comparison data. A shop listing is useful for the variant currently on offer, but it is not an independent check. Missing documents are not replaced with invented experiences.

Content checked on 21 October 2026. Prices, availability and product variants can change independently of this page. For the final check, always use the current retailer listing and any available manufacturer documents.

If a linked source is no longer reachable, or the model on offer visibly differs from the product image and designation, this analysis is no longer the right basis for a decision. In that case the current model number is what counts. Tell us about the difference via the contact page (in German), so that the data, the link and the recommendation can be checked.
