Does the model suit your lighting task?
Philips LED Classic GU10 10-pack, 4.6 W and 355 lm, not dimmable stands in this selection for existing GU10 holders on the 230 V mains without a dimmer, with no claim to high colour rendering. That is a narrower and more honest statement than a blanket “good” or “poor”. A lamp can be technically decent and still disappoint in the wrong place. That is why this review starts with the intended use, not with a score.
What matters is the luminous flux per lamp and how it is distributed: according to the manufacturer 355 lumens at 4.6 watts and a 36 degree beam angle, entered with 700 candela peak intensity. Ten lamps add up to 3,550 lumens on paper. Class F follows from 355 divided by 4.6 equals 77.2 lumens per watt, times factor 1.176 for directional mains light sources equals 90.8, with the class F limit at 85.
For this model there are 3 readable product features from the Amazon listing. They are not presented as independently confirmed measurements. We separate clearly between what the source states and our practical assessment. We do not claim any long-term, laboratory or room testing of our own. We reproduce the quoted listing texts unchanged in content, but apply the house punctuation: dashes become a colon or comma, ranges of values are written out with “to”, special characters and promotional symbols are removed. Figures, units and statements remain untouched.

Listing statement: high-quality warm white light, looks just like…
What the source says: high-quality warm white light, looks just like halogen spotlight light
Why this matters: The stated colour temperature describes the effect, not the brightness. In everyday use it matters whether fixed steps or a continuous range are offered and whether the setting is remembered. The colour temperature matches: according to the manufacturer it is 2700 kelvin, as with a halogen spotlight. The colour rendering does not. The EU product register lists a colour rendering index of 80 with an R9 of zero, whereas a halogen lamp is by nature close to 100.
Listing statement: Perfect fit for your spot recessed spotlight…
What the source states: Perfect fit for your spot recessed spotlight, recessed light lamps
Why this matters: This point should be checked against dimensions, instructions and the existing installation before buying. A listing can contain variants or shortened wording. It only applies if the holder is a GU10 mains-voltage cap with two pins 10 millimetres apart. In 12 volt holders with a transformer (GU5.3) the lamp fits neither mechanically nor electrically.
Listing statement: International products have separate terms, are sold from…
What the source states: International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions.
Why this matters: For the assessment, what counts is whether this feature brings a concrete advantage in daily use. Without a suitable lighting task, it remains mainly a data sheet point.
Use in daily life
The light bulb is not stood anywhere but twisted into existing GU10 holders of recessed spotlights, tracks or spots. You need no additional socket and no transformer, because the holder is connected directly to the 230 V mains. Ten lamps draw 46 watts in total.
For this model, the purchase decision should therefore hinge on a concrete situation. Before buying, write a sentence such as: “I need light for …” and add place, time of day and activity. If the model does not clearly fulfil this task, an alternative from the same category is probably the better choice.
The lamp is not built for dimmed circuits or for 12 volt holders. With a colour rendering index of 80 it is also not intended for colour-critical work. If you use it for your eyes in daily life: light therapy does not replace medical treatment.
Strengths and limits of the assessment
What speaks for the model
- Product image, ASIN and listing data are clearly linked to one another.
- The design can be matched to a specific lighting task: for existing GU10 holders on the 230 V mains without a dimmer, with no claim to high colour rendering.
- The available features allow a targeted check before buying, without inventing a star rating.
What remains open
- No long-term use of our own, no light measurement and no documented load check.
- Listing details can be abbreviated or change with variants and model updates.
- Room effect, glare and ease of use depend on your location and daily routine.
The most common wrong purchase is the dimmer: anyone who screws ten non-dimmable lamps into a dimmed circuit gets flicker and humming instead of light, and ten times over. The second stumbling block is confusion with GU5.3 or with similarly named Philips lamps that have different values at the same luminous flux, for example 60 instead of 36 degrees or a colour rendering index of 90 instead of 80. There is also the expectation of halogen-like colours, which is not met at an index of 80.
What you should measure and check before buying
Before buying, check whether a wall dimmer sits on any of the circuits, and count the pins in an empty holder: GU10 has two pins 10 millimetres apart. Also measure the installation depth, because according to the register the lamp is 54 millimetres high with a 50 millimetre diameter, plus the holder. Finally, read the product designation on the packaging and compare it with LEDClassic 50W GU10 WW 36D ND 10PK.
- Clarify cap and voltage: Clarify whether you need GU10 (230 volts, pin spacing 10 millimetres) or GU5.3 (12 volts with a transformer). These are two different device classes.
- Check the dimmer: Look for a wall dimmer in the circuit. According to the manufacturer, this lamp is not dimmable.
- Measure the installation depth: According to the register, the lamp is 54 millimetres high and 50 millimetres wide.
- Choose the beam angle: 36 degrees gives a medium light cone, roughly 0.98 metres in diameter at a distance of 1.50 metres. For wider light you need a different angle.
- Compare the model identifier: Read the product designation on the pack and compare it with LEDClassic 50W GU10 WW 36D ND 10PK, EAN 8718696778265.
If you are unsure how much light your room needs at all, work it out once: the lumens-to-watts chart translates wattage figures into actual brightness, and how many lumens per room are needed depends on area and activity. Further models from this area are in the overview under home lighting, and the lighting calculator translates your room into a concrete target brightness.
Set-up, position and first check
Switch off the power before changing the lamp and let the old lamp cool down. GU10 is locked with a quarter turn. Check that there is no dimmer in the circuit, and watch the installation depth, because the lamp is 54 millimetres high. Whether it may run in enclosed or insulated recessed fittings is not stated in the data sheet.
After set-up, do not judge the light only in daylight. In the evening, switch the rest of the lighting as you normally use it, and check the situation from seated, standing and walking height. Only then do disturbing reflections, hard shadows or an unfavourable switch position become visible.
Keep the instructions and the model designation. This helps with spare parts, with a later query about the product and in a guarantee claim. The light bulb and lamp holder remain replaceable, so a later change of brightness or colour temperature is possible. This device is intended for indoor use only, and it is not approved for damp rooms or outdoor use.
Comparison with similar models
The comparison does not name winners. It shows models of the same category so that you can see whether one of them is closer to your lighting task. If two models have the same task in the Assessment column, they do not differ in purpose but in design, dimensions and features. The column then states what is actually different according to the sources.

Our buying decision
Philips LED Classic GU10 10-pack, 4.6 W and 355 lm, not dimmable makes sense if you are looking for a light bulb for existing GU10 holders on the 230 V mains without a dimmer, with no claim to high colour rendering, have checked the dimensions at the intended place and will actually use the functions named in the listing. The purchase is less convincing if you expect a universal solution for several conflicting lighting tasks.
Keep looking if key data such as dimensions, light output, IP rating or compatibility is not clearly documented for your intended use. The same applies if you only like the look of the design, but the cable, the floor space or the controls would get in your way in daily use.
We deliberately award no stars. A numerical score would suggest a measurement accuracy that does not exist without documented hands-on testing. The statement this page can support is narrower: which details are available, what the model may be suited for, and which questions remain open before you buy?
Frequently asked questions about the light bulb
Can I run these GU10 lamps on a dimmer?
No. Philips lists them in the data sheet with the entry Dimmable: No, and the EU product register also lists them as not dimmable. On a trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmer, flicker, humming and a delayed start are possible, and the dimmer itself is not designed for this load.
Is energy class F correct?
Yes, if you apply the right factor. 355 lumens divided by 4.6 watts is 77.2 lumens per watt. In the register the lamp is listed as directional (DLS) and mains-operated (MLS), so the factor 1.176 applies under Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2019/2015. That gives roughly 90.8 lumens per watt, which is class F from 85.
Will this lamp fit my holder?
It fits holders with a GU10 cap, recognisable by two pins 10 millimetres apart and a quarter turn. Count the pins in an empty holder before ordering, because GU5.3 looks similar from below but runs on 12 volts behind a transformer.
How bright are ten of these lamps together?
Ten lamps with 355 lumens each add up to 3,550 lumens on paper, provided they are all in the same room. Because of the 36 degree beam angle the light is spread in individual cones, with a peak intensity of 700 candela according to the register, and it does not replace an even ceiling light.
How good is the colour rendering?
The register gives a colour rendering index of 80 and an R9 of zero for deep red. For warm home lighting that is standard, but for colour-critical work it is too tight, and there you need a lamp with a higher index.
What about rated lifetime and guarantee?
According to the manufacturer, the rated lifetime is 15,000 hours and the switching endurance is 50,000 cycles. We do not state a guarantee period, because it has not been checked against a second manufacturer source, and the figure of up to 15 years in retail is a conversion that assumes a certain daily burning time.
Sources and currency
The sources are ranked by their closeness to the product: manufacturer documents come before retailer or comparison data. A shop listing is useful for the variant currently on offer, but it is not an independent check. Missing documents are not replaced with invented experiences.
