Does the model suit your lighting task?
Yeelight Arwen D600 YLXDD-0150, 60 cm ceiling light with separate RGB backlight stands in this selection for the main lighting of a medium-sized living space with additional indirect coloured light on the ceiling. That is a narrower and more honest statement than a blanket ‘good’ or ‘bad’. A lamp can be technically decent and still disappoint in the wrong place. That is why this analysis starts with the intended use, not with a score.
A single Wi-Fi lamp can make sense without an additional hub. With many lights, sensors and switches, a hub system often becomes clearer to manage. The right architecture therefore depends more on the planned expansion than on the first device you buy.
For this model, 6 readable product features from the Amazon listing are available. They are not presented as independently confirmed measured values. We explicitly separate what the source states from our practical assessment. We do not claim any long-term, laboratory or room evaluation of our own. We reproduce the quoted listing texts unchanged in content, but apply the house punctuation: dashes become a colon or comma, ranges of values are written out with “to”, and special characters and promotional symbols are removed. Numbers, units and statements are left untouched.

Listing statement: Ground-breaking quick fitting & easy installation
What the source says: Ground-breaking quick fitting & easy installation: Thanks to the patented quick-change bracket, this LED ceiling lamp is ready for use in a few minutes. Simply slide the lamp into the base until it clicks into place. Save time and cost on installation. This ceiling light is also designed to be dust-proof and insect-proof, which minimises maintenance effort
Why this matters: This statement describes a product feature, but does not yet answer whether it is practical for the main lighting of a medium-sized living space with additional indirect coloured light on the ceiling. What matters is the link to the planned location. The quick bracket saves only the final step. Before that comes a hard-wired connection to 230 volts. The instructions for the sister model YLXD013-C expressly require a qualified electrician for this and give conductor cross-sections of 1.5 to 2.5 square millimetres. They also point out that switching off via the app or remote control does not disconnect the lamp from the mains.
Listing statement: Smart control & full flexibility
What the source says: Smart control & full flexibility: Control your LED lamp conveniently via the Mijia app, remote control or voice command (compatible with Alexa, Google Home & SmartThings). Adjust the lighting atmosphere from anywhere. Whether on/off, brightness or schedules, this intelligent ceiling lamp offers maximum connectivity for your smart home
Why this matters: Check how many ways of operating it there really are and whether each of them stays within reach at the planned spot. It also matters whether the unit stores the last level chosen and whether an accidental touch changes a setting. With a remote control, the question of batteries belongs here too. For the D series Yeelight shows the control routes Mi Home, SmartThings, Alexa and Google Home. The classic Yeelight app is not among them, and in the official Yeelight forum a user question has stood unanswered since October 2025, stating that the Yeelight app on Android does not find exactly this lamp with the number YLXDD-0150. Local control within your own network is therefore not documented. For the D series Yeelight names only Wi-Fi to IEEE 802.11 b/g/n in the 2.4 gigahertz band and Bluetooth 4.2 BLE. Matter, Zigbee and Thread do not appear in the specification field. A pure 5 gigahertz network is not sufficient for setting it up.
Listing statement: Dimmable & 16 million colours (RGBICWW)
What the source says: Dimmable & 16 million colours (RGBICWW): Transform your room with over 16 million colours. This LED ceiling light combines adjustable colour temperatures (2700K to 6500K) with indirect RGB ambient light. Whether warm white light for relaxing or colourful party light, our LED ceiling lamps cover all needs (brightness infinitely adjustable from 1% to 100%)
Why this matters: The stated colour temperature describes the effect, not the brightness. In everyday use it matters whether fixed steps or a continuous range are offered and whether the setting is saved.
Listing statement: 4800 lm brightness for rooms up to approx. 30 m²
What the source says: 4800 lm brightness for rooms up to approx. 30 m²: With 4800 lumens of luminous flux and 50 W of power, this LED ceiling lamp provides even, bright illumination in everyday use. It is excellently suited to bedrooms, living rooms, children's rooms, hallways or kitchens and combines strong light output with modern, energy-efficient LED technology
Why this matters: The amount of light can only be assessed together with beam angle, distance and the area illuminated. A high figure alone does not say whether the light arrives in the right place. Yeelight itself lists for the Arwen D series only the D500 with the number YLXDD-0149 and 4500lm. The value 4800 lm appears at Yeelight elsewhere, namely for the model YLXD031 of the A2001 series with a diameter of 598 millimetres, which according to the brochure expressly has no coloured light and no backlight. The figure of up to 30 square metres belongs at Yeelight to the D500 with 4500lm. For the 598 millimetre model with 4800lm, the Yeelight brochure gives 15 to 25 square metres. The room size in the listing is thus set more generously than the manufacturer's own statement for the same luminous flux.
Listing statement: Natural colours with Ra95 & Moonlight mode
What the source says: Natural colours with Ra95 & Moonlight mode: Experience your surroundings in true brilliance: With an extremely high colour rendering index (CRI ≥ Ra95), this ceiling lamp shows LED colours as naturally as under sunlight. For the night, the ultra-soft Moonlight mode offers glare-free, moon-like light that is gentle on the eyes and serves as a night light in the bedroom
Why this matters: This point should be checked against dimensions, instructions and the existing installation before you buy. A listing can contain variants or shortened wording. The value is inconsistent. The image gallery of the same listing advertises Ra98, and Yeelight's specification field for the Arwen D series gives no colour rendering index at all. Ra95 is the value from the older data sheets for the Arwen C series and the A2001 series.
Listing statement: Separately controllable RGB backlight & light groups
What the source says: Separately controllable RGB backlight & light groups: The indirect RGB backlight can be controlled separately from the main light and creates subtle accent lighting on the ceiling. For an even more intense lighting experience, the lamp can be grouped and synchronised with further Yeelight lamps, perfect for a harmonious, immersive home.
Why this matters: For the assessment, what counts is whether this feature brings a concrete advantage in daily use. Without a suitable lighting task, it remains mainly a data sheet point.
Use in daily life
Matter improves cooperation between different platforms, but does not guarantee that every special function of a manufacturer app is available everywhere. Scenes, music modes or segment control may still remain tied to the respective app.
For this model, the purchase decision should therefore hinge on a concrete situation. Before buying, write a sentence such as: “I need light for …” and add place, time of day and activity. If the model does not clearly fulfil this task, an alternative from the same category is probably the better choice.
The wall switch remains a practical weak point. If a smart lamp is cut off from power there, the app and automations cannot be reached. Good planning therefore also clarifies how guests and other members of the household operate the light.
Strengths and limits of the assessment
What speaks for the model
- Product image, ASIN and listing data are clearly linked to one another.
- The design can be matched to a specific lighting task: for the main lighting of a medium-sized living space with additional indirect coloured light on the ceiling.
- The available features allow a targeted check before buying, without inventing a star rating.
What remains open
- No long-term use of our own, no light measurement and no documented load check.
- Listing details can be abbreviated or change with variants and model updates.
- Room effect, glare and ease of use depend on your location and daily routine.
The combination of 60 centimetres, 4800 lumens and RGB backlight is misleading, because these three statements do not appear in any shared data sheet at Yeelight. The 4800 lumens belong to a non-coloured model of the A2001 series, while the backlight and the 4500 lumens belong to the Arwen range. Second, Ra95 is misleading, because the image gallery of the same listing advertises Ra98 and Yeelight gives no colour rendering index at all for the D series. Third, the word quick fitting promises more simplicity than a hard-wired 230 volt connection allows. Fourth, the mention of Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings gives the impression of open standards, although the route runs via the MIJIA cloud and, according to the forum, Yeelight's own app does not find the lamp.
Why the 4800 lumens belong to a different lamp
Yeelight documents this range on its own product page, but expressly only the smaller version at 495 millimetres with the model number YLXDD-0149, and for that the manufacturer gives 4500 lumens. For the 60 centimetre version YLXDD-0150 sold here, there is no manufacturer document. The 4800 lumens given in the title appear at Yeelight in a completely different place: for a 598 millimetre model of the A2001 series that, according to the manufacturer's brochure, has neither coloured light nor a backlight.
The listing thus places side by side three statements that do not appear in any shared data sheet at Yeelight: 60 centimetres diameter, 4800 lumens and a separately switchable RGB backlight. For the purchase decision this does not mean that the lamp would be dark. It means that the figure cannot be verified, and for room planning you are better off working with the documented order of magnitude of the range, that is around 4500 lumens.
On the colour rendering index the same listing also contradicts itself: the bullet point gives Ra 95, the image gallery Ra 98, and Yeelight gives no value at all for the D series. A second point matters more for the durability of the smart functions than any of these figures: according to the listing, control runs via Xiaomi's MIJIA app, not via the Yeelight app. In the official Yeelight forum, a user question on this has stood unanswered since October 2025.
What you should measure and check before buying
Measure the ceiling outlet and check whether a fixed 230 volt supply cable with earth conductor arrives there, because the lamp is hard-wired and not plugged in. Check whether there is a wall dimmer switch in the circuit, because dimming is done via the app and remote control. Measure the space required with 60 centimetres diameter and around 10 centimetres installed height, and allow for the 3.2 kilograms of weight when choosing the wall plugs. Check whether your router offers a 2.4 gigahertz network at the installation location, because Yeelight names only 802.11 b/g/n in the 2.4 gigahertz band for this range. Also check whether you are willing to use the MIJIA app, because according to the forum the classic Yeelight app does not find this model.
- Define the task: Write down which surface or zone is to be lit and at what time of day you use it.
- Measure the space: Check the mounting surface, cut-out or drilling pattern, the height of the cavity and whether a fixed supply cable is present at the planned location. Product photos are no substitute for dimensions.
- Compare the light data: Check light output, colour temperature, dimming and, if needed, IP rating in the current listing text. There is no manufacturer document to consult for this item.
- Think through the controls: The switch, app, sensor or remote control must be reachable and understandable in daily use at the planned location.
- Check the variant: Colour, size and set contents can differ within one listing, and often the technical details in the description text with them. Compare the selected variant with this analysis.
If you are unsure how much light your room needs at all, work it out once: the lumens to watts chart puts wattage figures into terms of actual brightness, and how many lumens per room are needed depends on floor area and activity. More models in this area are listed in the overview under smart lighting, and the lighting calculator translates your room into a specific target brightness.
Set-up, position and first check
First set up a single light and check the app, voice control and behaviour after a power cut. Assign understandable room and device names. Only once the basic operation works reliably is it worth building scenes and automations.
After set-up, do not judge the light only in daylight. In the evening, switch the rest of the lighting as you normally use it, and check the situation from seated, standing and walking height. Only then do disturbing reflections, hard shadows or an unfavourable switch position become visible.
Note down the model number and order date and keep whatever paper is in the box. For this item there is neither an instruction manual nor a manufacturer page to download, and in the event of a complaint the retailer is the only point of contact. You need both when you set up the app again and in a guarantee case, because there is no data sheet to look things up in. Replacing the light source is not provided for; at the end of its rated lifetime the complete unit is replaced. This unit is hard-wired to the house installation. Because no instructions are available for it, the connection belongs in expert hands, and in damp rooms and outdoors even more so.
Comparison with similar models
The comparison does not name winners. It shows models of the same category so that you can see whether one of them is closer to your lighting task. If two models have the same task in the Assessment column, they do not differ in purpose but in design, dimensions and features. The column then states what is actually different according to the sources.

Our buying decision
Yeelight Arwen D600 YLXDD-0150, 60 cm ceiling light with separate RGB backlight makes sense if you are looking for a lamp for the main lighting of a medium-sized living space with additional indirect coloured light on the ceiling, have checked the dimensions at the intended spot and will actually use the functions named in the listing. The purchase is less convincing if you expect a universal solution for several conflicting lighting tasks.
Keep looking if key data such as dimensions, light output, IP rating or compatibility is not clearly documented for your intended use. The same applies if you only like the look of the design, but the cable, the installation location or the controls would get in your way in daily use.
We deliberately award no stars. A numerical score would suggest a measurement accuracy that does not exist without documented hands-on testing. The statement this page can support is narrower: which details are available, what the model may be suited for, and which questions remain open before you buy?
Frequently asked questions about smart lighting
Which lamp is this exactly?
The second-generation Arwen D600 with the model number YLXDD-0150. This number appears in the data fields of the listing and turns up in the official Yeelight forum. It is not identical to the older Arwen C YLXD013-C, which the same seller also sells as a 60 centimetre lamp, nor to the non-coloured A2001 model YLXD031.
Are the 4800 lumens confirmed by the manufacturer?
No. In the Arwen D series, Yeelight documents only the D500 with the number YLXDD-0149 and 4500lm. Yeelight gives the value 4800lm for a different model, the 598 millimetre YLXD031 of the A2001 series, which according to the brochure has no coloured light and no backlight. For the D600 there is no lumen figure from Yeelight.
Can the RGB light really be switched separately from the main light?
Yes, for the D series Yeelight shows a separate field labelled RGB Backlight and describes it as separately controllable with 16 million colours for subtle ceiling accents. The main light is marked as RGBICWW in the same overview, so it can also produce colour. This is documented, however, for the D500, not expressly for the D600 sold here.
Can I connect the light myself?
No, not without electrical knowledge. The instructions for the sister model YLXD013-C require a hard-wired connection to 220 to 240 volts by a qualified electrician, with conductor cross-sections of 1.5 to 2.5 square millimetres and 11 to 13 millimetres of stripped length. They also warn that switching off via the app or remote control does not disconnect the lamp from the mains.
Do I need a hub or does the lamp support Matter?
No, a hub is not necessary, and Matter is not documented. For the D series Yeelight names only Wi-Fi to IEEE 802.11 b/g/n in the 2.4 gigahertz band and Bluetooth 4.2 BLE; Matter, Zigbee and Thread do not appear in the specification field. According to the listing, integration runs via the MIJIA app.
Sources and currency
The sources are ranked by their closeness to the product: manufacturer documents come before retailer or comparison data. A shop listing is useful for the variant currently on offer, but it is not an independent check. Missing documents are not replaced with invented experiences.
